Creating a sales forecast

Where you make or buy for stock so that goods are supplied to your customers ex-stock, or where a customer has given you an idea of future requirements for an item, you can create Sales Plans which anticipate this demand and can in turn be used to work out what components need to be made or bought by including planned sales in your requirements calculation.

Click Sales > Sales Forecasts > New Sales Forecast

You will need to complete the following:

  • Sales Forecast Name – a name for this sales plan, possibly relating to either customer, item, or both
  • Stock Item – select the Stock Item to be planned
  • Date – first planned delivery date
  • Quantity – first planned delivery quantity
  • Tick the Select box at the end of the item line and click ‘repeat’ to enter number and frequency of planned deliveries

The planned delivery dates and quantities can be edited at this point (or later at any time) and once you are happy that the plan is correct and complete click Create to create and save this plan else Cancel to return to the plan listing page without saving.

Once saved, forecasts can be included in demand in the Requirements screen by clicking Stock > Requirements and ticking the ‘show sales plans’ box.

Note: planned dates earlier than today are ignored by the requirements calculation.
