Gordon Wilson joins business network as voice for technology
The CBI, UK’s leading business voice, has appointed Advanced CEO Gordon Wilson as a member of its South East Regional Council. Gordon, who was successfully elected by existing members in the region, will be joining top executives from leading organisations as part of a three year term.
Gordon has over 20 years’ general management experience in the software and business support sectors, with former roles including managing director at Kerridge Automotive Systems, ADP Dealer Services and Aquila Heywood, the UK’s largest provider of pension and policy administration software and services.
CBI regional councillors form a network of more than 500 senior business executives that play a leading role in influencing the UK policy landscape at a devolved, regional and national level. CBI Regional Councils are critical in working with the CBI to shape its messages to the UK Government and influence the business landscape’s future.
In November last year, the CBI sent out a rallying call of action to business leaders to ensure the nation unites behind a ‘leapfrog’ industrial strategy to win in the technology age. As CEO of the UK’s third largest software and services company, Gordon is also passionate about this strategy and feels technology can and must be a force for good for Britain.
Gordon Wilson, CEO, Advanced comments: “We are seeing technology disrupt the UK business landscape like never before helping businesses compete but forcing them to act with pace. This gives us an incredible chance to transform the country into a leadership position. Boards and leaders need the courage and vision to get to grips with the digital era, reimagining their future and creating new business models to encourage growth and innovation.
“As a business, we will bring to the CBI experience in working across multiple sectors to help ensure the right environment is created to deliver a successful digital transformation for all businesses, large and small. I’m looking forward to collaborating with fellow members – confident that collectively we can drive the CBI’s position as the leading business voice.”
As a member of the CBI South East Regional Council, Gordon will regularly meet with members to discuss and agree how best to address the current technology challenges and take advantage of the government’s ambitious industrial strategy.
Malcolm Hyde, CBI South East Regional Director, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Gordon to the CBI’s South East Regional Council. Gordon’s wealth of business experience, particularly in technology – a key to unlocking the increased productivity which all our regions need – will help the CBI create the best possible conditions for member businesses in the South East.”
