OneAdvanced's Adastra Becomes First 111 Software Compliant with NHS CIS2 Authentication

OneAdvanced, a leading provider of software solutions for the health and care sector, today announced that its Adastra software, that is used by 85% of England's Urgent and Unplanned care providers and 100% of Scotland’s providers; is fully compliant and assured with the NHS Care Identity Service 2 (CIS2) Authentication.

This landmark achievement positions Adastra as the inaugural 111 software provider to attain full compliance with the national authentication service.

This critical milestone comes as NHS England rapidly progresses with the deprecation of Care Identity Service 1 (CIS1) Authentication. As of October 1, 2025, CIS1 Authentication will see reduced support levels and availability targets. Further reductions will occur on March 1, 2026, before its complete removal from operational service by February 28, 2027.

OneAdvanced's proactive integration and assurance with CIS2 Authentication demonstrates a deep commitment to ensuring the continued, secure operation of vital 111 services across England, well in advance of the impending CIS1 cut-off dates.

Key Benefits for OneAdvanced Adastra Users and the NHS:

  • Enhanced Security: CIS2 offers a superior level of authentication security, fully aligning with NHS England’s multi-factor authentication policy and current industry best practices.
  • Streamlined Access: For smartcard users, CIS2 provides a single login across multiple applications, eliminating the need for multiple passwords and streamlining critical workflows for health and care professionals.
  • Robust Service Continuity: OneAdvanced benefits from the NHS CIS2 Authentication's Platinum service, ensuring 24/7 support and maximum uptime for essential 111 services.
  • Future-Proofed Operations: Early migration to CIS2 ensures Adastra users are fully prepared for the upcoming CIS1 deprecation, safeguarding uninterrupted and secure access to national clinical information systems.
  • Expanded Authentication Methods: CIS2 opens up new, flexible authentication options beyond traditional smartcards, including iPads, security keys, and biometrics.

"Being the first 111 software provider to achieve full compliance and assurance with NHS CIS2 Authentication for Adastra is a pivotal moment for OneAdvanced and for 111 services nationwide," said Ric Thompson, SVP of Health and Care at OneAdvanced.

He added "This accomplishment underscores our unwavering commitment to innovation and our dedication to supporting the NHS with the most secure and efficient solutions. We are proud to lead the way in enabling essential healthcare services to operate seamlessly and securely as the digital landscape evolves."

OneAdvanced strongly encourages all users of its Adastra software, and all health and care organisations still relying on CIS1 Authentication, to transition to CIS2 Authentication promptly to ensure seamless and secure access to national clinical systems.
