About Juniper Training
Juniper Training has been supporting learners and employers for more than 40 years, building a reputation as one of the country's most experienced training and apprenticeship providers. Headquartered in Wolverhampton, Juniper supports around 2,850 learners across study programmes and apprenticeships and works with more than 800 employers.
As Juniper continues to evolve its apprenticeship delivery, the team are working closely with OneAdvanced Education to create a connected, efficient and future-ready Apprenticeship Management system, bringing together Assessment and Learning (bksb), LMS (PICS) and ePortfolio (Smart Assessor).
The Problem
Juniper wanted to reduce complexity across its apprenticeship delivery systems, improve access to data and reporting, and create a more seamless experience for staff, learners and employers.
The Solution
A modernised Apprenticeship Management system from OneAdvanced Education, bringing together LMS (PICS), Assessment and Learning (bksb) and ePortfolio (Smart Assessor), supported by close collaboration between Juniper and the OneAdvanced product team.
The Result
Juniper is moving towards a connected apprenticeship management environment, improving efficiency, strengthening visibility across learner data and helping shape the future direction of the platform through a collaborative partnership with OneAdvanced Education.
The challenge
For many years, Juniper used LMS (PICS), Assessment and Learning (bksb) and ePortfolio (Smart Assessor) as core parts of its learner delivery model.
Each platform performed an important role, but staff still needed to work across multiple systems to access information, manage learner activity and generate reports. Bringing together a complete view of performance often involved manually combining data from different sources, while routine administrative tasks required information to be entered more than once.
As Juniper looked to the future, the team wanted a more connected approach that could simplify day-to-day processes, improve visibility and support the continued growth of the organisation.
As Andy Williams explains:
"We were effectively using three different systems because they were not fully hooked up."

What made the difference
Juniper were particularly encouraged by the vision for a connected Apprenticeship Management platform, bringing together Assessment and Learning (bksb), LMS (PICS) and ePortfolio (Smart Assessor) into a single experience.
By connecting systems that have long played an important role in apprenticeship delivery, the team saw an opportunity to streamline processes, improve visibility across learner data and reduce the need for staff to work across multiple platforms. Rather than managing separate workflows, Juniper are working towards a joined-up approach that supports delivery, quality assurance and compliance through a single experience.
Just as importantly, the team have been able to play an active role in shaping how the platform develops.
Through sprint reviews, direct conversations with product leaders and ongoing feedback sessions, Juniper have worked closely with the OneAdvanced Education team throughout development. This has given the provider a genuine opportunity to influence functionality, share operational insight and help ensure developments reflect the realities of apprenticeship delivery.
As Andy Williams says:
"The developers have been really responsive. It's been really helpful, I think, to see it develop."
What changed
One of the most significant changes has been Juniper's move towards a connected Apprenticeship Management experience.
The integration of LMS (PICS), Assessment and Learning (bksb), and ePortfolio (Smart Assessor), alongside the move towards a single sign-on experience, is helping bring together information, processes and users in a more streamlined way.
At the same time, Juniper have developed a much closer relationship with OneAdvanced Education. Through regular engagement with product teams, provider events and collaborative workshops, the organisation has gained greater visibility into the product roadmap and a genuine opportunity to influence future development.
The result is more than a technology upgrade. It is a partnership focused on continuous improvement, helping Juniper maximise value from its systems while ensuring future developments align with the needs of apprenticeship providers.
This is supporting progress across several key priorities:
- Quality - helping strengthen oversight, compliance and learner tracking
- Efficiency - reducing administrative burden and improving access to information
- User experience - creating a more connectedjourney for staff, learners and employers
- Innovation - providing a platform for future AI-enabled capablities

Customer perspective
John Bonser sees significant value in both the platform and the collaborative approach behind it.
On the new system:
"We're really happy with what the new system looks like. The early indicators are that it's going to be a really good system."
On being part of the development process:
"It's difficult to roll out a new system. You live and die by how you implement it. Because we've seen this almost from the ground up, we've had that chance to feed in on it, and the developers have been really responsive."
Reflecting on a recent provider event, he adds:
"You're literally surrounded by all the key people involved in the development of the product, who are listening and responsive. Everyone's really friendly and open to listening to what your pain points are."
Andy Williams highlights the value of the integration:
"It's becoming a far better value proposition, end to end, starting with LMS (PICS), then Assessment and Learning (bksb) and finishing with ePortfolio (Smart Assessor)."
The role of partnership
Partnership has become a defining part of Juniper's experience with OneAdvanced Education.
Through sprint reviews, provider events, on-site demonstrations and regular engagement with support and account management teams, Juniper have been able to play an active role in shaping the future of the Apprenticeship Management platform.
The team highlights the responsiveness of the developers, the accessibility of product leaders and the willingness of OneAdvanced Education to listen to feedback and act on it. This collaborative approach has helped build confidence that the platform will continue to evolve in line with the changing needs of providers, learners and employers.
As Andy explains:
"In light of the development, there's significant value being added."
Moving forward
Juniper continues to build on its investment in OneAdvanced Education as it works towards fully adopting the new Apprenticeship Management experience across its learner and assessor community.
The team is also looking to involve more colleagues in future product discussions, ensuring development continues to reflect the needs of users across the organisation.
Alongside this, Juniper has recently adopted OneAdvanced Education's AI package and is excited about the possibilities it could unlock. From simplifying access to information to helping staff make better use of data, the organisation sees significant potential in a secure, integrated approach to AI.
Through a close working relationship with OneAdvanced Education, Juniper is helping shape the future of apprenticeship management and delivery, creating new opportunities to improve outcomes, increase efficiency and strengthen collaboration between providers, employers and learners in the years ahead.
