Advanced has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Private Sector Project Enterprise’ category in the UK Cloud Awards 2016.

Advanced has been selected for its work with Tideway, the company behind the new ‘super sewer’ that is being constructed in London. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Skylon restaurant in London on April 12.

The Awards, which are jointly organised by Cloud Pro and the Cloud Industry Forum, recognise the leading cloud suppliers, technologies and projects in the UK.

The Thames Tideway Tunnel is being built to tackle the problem of overflows from the capital’s Victorian sewers and protect the River Thames from increasing pollution. The £4.2bn tunnel will have a diameter of 7.2 metres, broadly follow the River Thames for 25km and lie up to 70 metres below ground – making it the deepest and longest tunnel ever constructed in London.

Advanced is managing the entire IT infrastructure for the project, providing a range of 24/7 mission-critical managed services across all desktop applications and associated mobile and tablet devices. Tideway is using a hybrid cloud model, with its core applications being hosted in a private cloud in Advanced’s datacentre. Advanced is also providing the company with a managed service desk and on-site support engineers.

The awards attracted hundreds of nominations from companies involved in the cloud computing industry, and Advanced has been shortlisted alongside Microsoft and Workday in the ‘Best Private Sector Project Enterprise’ category.

Neil Cross, Managing Director, 365 at Advanced, comments,

“Adoption of cloud computing is rapidly growing among the UK business community, so to be nominated in the UK Cloud Awards is a great commendation and one which confirms our position as a leading provider in this market.

“The Thames Tideway Tunnel is one of London’s largest ever infrastructure projects and as such Tideway had a very high level of requirements in terms of performance and security. The hybrid cloud project was delivered on time and on budget and is already helping Tideway to enhance productivity, efficiency and collaboration for over 400 users,” Cross adds.

The UK Cloud Awards were launched in 2014 and have since expanded as cloud technology continues to transform the way that businesses operate.
